Exodus Journey

  • Stop committing the same sins

Above is the path the isrealites took out of Egypt on their way to the promised land. A journey that should've took about 16 days ended up taking 40 years! In many ways the Israelites journey out of Egypt is characteristic of a persons walk with Christ. On one hand a christian can become a coward and be lulled to the "easy life", a lot of israelites wanted to turn back to Egypt, to remain in an area of complacency, atleast the path wasnt arduous and they would be fed. So sin entices us to remain lulled by it's intoxicating effects, it's fun, it's the easy way out. But God calls us to take the path less travelled. "Strait is gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."- Matthew 7:14. I recall being a boy in church and the pastor saying, "El camino de dios is para los valientes", it's true! This doesn't mean god's path is joyless, there will be tribulations, there will be struggles but god has a purpose for us all.

Don't be wanderersRight now I am 24 years old. I honestly still consider myself a baby in the word, eventhough I grew up going to church. The problem is that I've been living most of my life without jesus. In college, it was really tough being a christian, especially when I seldom if ever went to church, or joined any christian groups. I kept repeating the same sins over and over again. God was always there to forgive me but I never made a true commitment to God. I was a wanderer apart from Jesus for almost my whole life. After Cain killed abel, God told Cain that he will be a restless wanderer on the earth. When we constantly sin against god we become restless wanderers, never reaching the place god intended us to be at. No one can be saved by just saying a simple prayer about accepting jesus into your heart. Knowledge requires action. God is calling us to be like him, and to stop being hot and cold. Freshman year of college I told myself I wanted to become a great pianist and be able to share my gifts and god's word on social media. Although I've made great strides, how much more I would have accomplished if I just stayed on the path of holiness. Don't wast time, there's only so much of it. Set small goals everyday, so one day you can be the best version of yourself god wanted you to be. A person that magnifies the greatness of our creator. Amen
